Azerbaijan's President has dissolved Parliament
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has dissolved Parliament and called early elections to the Milli Majlis (Parliament) on February 9.
The Azerbaijani Parliament on Monday announced its dissolution and sent a proposal to the President of the country with a request to call early elections.
The Parliament consists of 125 deputies, most of the seats were held by the ruling party "New Azerbaijan".
The next parliamentary elections were to be held in Azerbaijan in November 2020. Earlier, Aliyev sent a request to the constitutional court to consider this decision of the Parliament for compliance with the basic law. On Wednesday, the court upheld the legality of the decision.
